Candidate Statement:

Avon Lake has an excellent school system. It is a pillar of pride in the Avon Lake community.

I want to assure that we sustain excellence and affordability of our schools in the years ahead and for generations to come. I call it “focus on the future.” We face economic challenges. After years of rapid development growth is slowing. Revenues will not increase as in past years and state funding is declining. Yet the costs of education excellence will continue to increase.

As a member of the I will work closely with our teachers, our superintendent and community leaders to seek innovative solutions to optimize resources and implement sustainable long-range planning to control costs. My goal will be to assure the continued excellence and affordability of our Avon Lake schools for all citizens of Avon Lake.

It is also important that we address special education needs, the arts and providing educational opportunities that are relevant to the our rapidly changing world.
