City Council Talk Water and Sewer Improvements on Nagel Road

Work to be done as changes come to area

With the coming Nagel Road interchange with Interstate 90, the building of the facility nearby and the expected development on Nagel Road between Detroit Road and the city line with Avon Lake, Avon is looking at making infrastructure improvements in the area now while it's easier to do so.

David Conrad discussed two of the projects at Tuesday night's work session of . A new lift station would be built along Nagel Road at the railroad tracks, and water mains and sanitary sewers along Nagel Road, Chester Road and Just Imagine Drive would be installed.

Conrad said replacing these items now would be easier than doing it after new development comes in, the interchange is built and Nagel Road possibly widened. The lift station, for example, would be built back far enough so that if Nagel Road is widened, it would not be affected.

Conrad estimated the two projects would cost around $3.5 million.

Work could begin on the lift station in May, Conrad said, and the water mains and sanitary sewers in July. The lift station project would take about five to six months, with the water mains and sanitary sewers taking six to eight months.

Nagel Road may have lanes closed at time while the work is being done, but Conrad does not expect them to last  long or impact traffic much.
