City Council to Hold Special Meeting Following Work Session

Nagel Interchange items on the agenda

It could be a long night at City Hall on Monday night as the Nagel Road interchange is again featured on the agenda of not only the scheduled 7:30 p.m. Avon City Council work session, but the special session following it.

You can see the complete agendas for both meetings in the PDF documents attached here.

The $18 million of the city's share of the $27 million interchange project will be discussed in the work session and is also on the special session. Council could decide to go with declaring an emergency to avoid going the full three readings, in order to get the money to the Ohio Department of Transportation by the middle of July.

when Nagel area landowners, worried about the mention of assessments being in the financing plan after Mayor Jim Smith recommended two weeks ago that assessments on property owners other than the Richard E. Jacobs Group not be a part of the project's financing, confronted council about it. Smith and other members of council insisted the voluntary assessments mentioned applied only to the Jacobs Group, and that, once the plan was approved and ODOT got the money to being the project, the city could not go back and put assessments into the financing plan.
