Barb Kraus retiring after 28 years with the city

After 28 years of working for the city, Barb Krause is retiring as treasurer at the end of April.

Avon City Council has approved the hiring of her replacement, Beth Raicevich.

Raicevich will be a part-time employee, earning $16,500 a year. The treasurer works for City Council, keeping her own set of books for the city's expenses and income, and making sure everything matches what the city finance department has on its books. Raicevich will also co-sign city checks and money transfers.

Her schedule will vary from week to week depending on her duties, said Bill Logan.

"Some weeks, she'll work 30 hours, some weeks five," Logan said. It will average about 15 to 20 hours a week.

Raicevich, a native of Poland, Ohio, also works for Cincinnati-based Mike Albert Fleet Solutions. She has lived in Avon for 12 years.

Krause said that she is looking forward to her sunny retirement plans.

"I'm moving to Florida and I'm going to play golf," she said, adding her new home will be near Ocala.
