Electronic Federal Income Tax Filing Starts Tuesday

How soon do you file your taxes? Take our poll!

If you have all your 2011 tax forms like W-2s, you can be one of those annoyingly smug people who says as the tax filing deadline nears in April, "Oh, I did mine months ago!"

The Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday that its electronic tax filing season has opened.

Free File Fillable Forms, the electronic version of IRS paper forms, has no income restrictions. It does some math calculations and links to some IRS publications, but is not as interactive as the software.

You can also e-file using commercial software or through a professional tax preparer.

Filing your state income tax returns can also be done electronically at the Department of Taxation's website.

Local income taxes can be filed electronically through the Regional Income Tax Agency's website.
