Finance Department Honored by State Auditor

Department noted for clean records

The has been given an Award With Distinction from the Ohio Auditor of State's office.

A recent audit of the city returned a clean report. Only five percent of municipalities earn this award, finance director Bill Logan said.

To qualify for the award, the city must turn in its financial reports on time. The report can't have problems like questioned costs, citations or ethics referrals.

“Good finance is important to everything government does. We can't expect good decisions by the mayor, good management by the executives, or sound budgetary decisions by council unless the books are clean and accurate,” Ohio State Auditor Dave Yost said in the announcement of the award to Avon. 

Logan said the reason for the award was simple.

"We have good people working for the city who know what they're doing," he said of his department.
