Fiscal Cliff: Third Party is Needed in America

Resident calls for an uprising to end two-party system

We are getting closer to going over the fiscal cliff. The Republicans are in a fighting mood that they will go down fighting not to raise taxes on the top two percent. When was the last time this party fought so hard for the remaining 98 percent? Politics has taken over what is good for the country and not what is good for the 98 percent. The politicians in both parties are more worried about getting elected in 2014 and the big election in 2016.

In 1980, Lech Walesa led a labor strike in Poland and was able to overthrow the Communist Party. Where is our Walesa? What we need is a strong third party to put fear and demand behavior beyond reproach of the members of our two-party system.

The only way we are going to put the fear of God into our politicians is to have an uprising of the people. What happened in Newtown, Conn. has to happen in Washington, D.C. Once the self-serving politicians realize what they are doing to the citizens of this country and their lives are now on the line, maybe they'll have a genuine epiphany. I am positive that with the assault rifles there have to be members in the NRA who, for the right price, would take the money and go after our leaders to put the fear of God into them.

This might sound harsh, but this is the only way that these politicians on both sides will wake up and forget about their own personal gain in their respective political parties and do the work for the good of the citizens of this country.

If Walesa could do this in Poland, a third party with the backing of the American people can do it here.
