Free Computer Classes, Chocolate Tasting at the Library

As always, the Avon Lake Public Library has events for all ages

Getting Started - Computer Classes

Do you have limited computer experience? Expand your knowledge by learning basic computer functions at one of the Library’s upcoming computer classes. This “Getting Started” class is offered Mondays, Jan. 16 and 23 at 10:30 a.m. or Mondays, Feb. 6 and 13 at 7 p.m., and Tuesday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. Call the Reference desk at 440-933-8128 x 249 to reserve your place in one of these classes.

Environmental Series – Multi-Use Trails in Our Community

On Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m., Michelle Johnson, senior planner and project manager with Floyd Browne Group will speak about the financial and environmental challenges of improving and expanding Avon Lake’s bike/walking/roller blade trails, and connecting them to adjacent communities.

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type Book Discussion

Students in grades K – 3 are invited to join us on Monday, Jan.  16 from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. as we read a classic picture book aloud, talk about the story and then make a yummy snack. Registration required, beginning Monday, Jan.  9 in the Children’s Department or by calling 440-933-8128 x 253.

Fleece Scarf Craft

Join YA staff on Tuesday, Jan.  17 from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. and make a super simple fleece-weave scarf. For ages 11-16. Supplies will be provided. Registration required at the YA desk or by calling 440-933-8128 x 247.

Chocolate Tasting

Prepare for Valentine’s Day by learning all about chocolate on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. Catherine Pastron, owner of in Avon, will guide you through the complexities and levels of flavor as you see, smell, feel and taste different types of chocolate. The class is limited to 25, and prepaid registration at the circulation desk is required. Friends registration begins Jan. 10, fee is $2. General public registration begins Jan. 17, fee is $3.
