Is Ward IV Councilman Mulling at-Large Seat in Avon Lake?

Is Avon Lake Ward 4 Councilman David Kos considering a run for an at-large seat in November?

Kos recently pulled petitions from the Lorain County Board of Elections to run for one of the three Avon Lake at-large council seats that will be decided Nov. 6.

In November of 2011 Kos ran unopposed to retain the Ward IV seat he won in 2007, after narrowly beating incumbent Michael Stanek by six votes.

The deadline to turn in signed petitions is 4 p.m. on Aug. 7.

The three incumbents, Martin O’Donnell, Dan Bucci and John Shondel, who was appointed to the seat in Jan. 2012, have all announced they are running to retain their seats.

Should Kos run and win an at-large seat, council will need to appoint a resident to fill his vacated Ward IV seat, which is not up for re-election for two more years.

Kos was out of town and unable to comment.
