‘Least Amount of Confusion’ Sought if Power is Out on Election Day
Board of Elections Director says plan in place if power is still out on Tuesday
With Election Day right around the corner, Lorain County Board of Elections director Paul Adams said a plan is in place is any polling place unable to open, including any without power.
After the remnants of Hurricane Sandy passed through Avon Lake, several polling locations were out of power, including Learwood Middle School and Lake Shore United Methodist Church.
Power was returned to Learwood on Nov. 1. As of Nov. 2, only Lake Shore United Methodist Church was lacking power.

“We’re getting feed from (Avon LakeFire Chief (Glen) Eisenhardt and the power company,” Adams said. “If necessary they will bump up that area on the priority list.”
Adams said there was also a possibility of using generators if power is not restored by the time the polls open on Nov. 6.

“There’s a lot of options,” Adams said. “We have emergency procedures in place for the entire county."
Adams said the goal was an option with the “least amount of confusion.”
There remains the option to relocate voting with notices directing electors where to go.
