Issue 3 Provides Additional Funding for Lorain County Drug Task Force

Approval would generated almost half a million dollars annually.

The County is also seeking approval of a 5-year, .08 mill levy for the Lorain County Drug Task Force and the county’s crime lab. The item will be on the ballot as Issue 3.

If approved, the levy would generate approximately $492,000 annually and cost the average homeowner about $4.

Sheriff’s office representatives have said that if approved, one-third of the money collected will go to the crime lab and help continuing efforts to combat the high level of drug overdoses in the county.

The levy would supplement a permanent levy that continuously funds the Task Force and the county’s drug analysis lab.

The Lorain County Drug Task Force is a multi-agency narcotics task force that functions under the direction and control of the Lorain County Sheriff. The drug task force is comprised of sworn law enforcement officers from various County departments including the Lorain County Sheriff's Department.

The Drug Task Force primarily conducts investigations of individuals and organizations involved in narcotics trafficking, the seizure of assets acquired through narcotics trafficking, and the promotion of coordinated narcotics enforcement efforts among various law enforcement agencies within the county.
