Candidate Statement:

It was an easy decision for my wife and me to move to Avon Lake seven years ago. The proud academic tradition of the schools and the strong community support drew us here. With much excitement, my oldest daughter officially becomes a Shoregal this fall (kindergarten) with my son soon to follow.

My career as a CPA has prepared me to help organizations meet their goals in a difficult fiscal environment. My strong financial background includes managing the budget of a $35 million professional service firm, roughly the same size budget of the Avon Lake Schools.

Last fall, my interest in the schools led me to pursue my school treasurer license. I took several graduate level classes in school finance and school law, interviewed and shadowed several local school treasurers, and attended board meetings in various districts. Further, I have developed my own five year forecast model that is required of each school district.

So as a concerned parent and a CPA with knowledge of school finance, I want to contribute my leadership to the community by running for the Avon Lake School Board.

My main reason for running is that our community has a valued treasure in our school system, and we need to protect it. With fiscal challenges ahead, our Avon Lake School Board needs an experienced finance professional with a fresh and independent perspective.

In addition to my professional qualifications, I strive to be an example for our youth. Whether coaching youth soccer, teaching Sunday School, or aspiring to be a good parent, I put an emphasis on education. My parents, who are retired school teachers, instilled those values in me, and I want to pass those on to my children.

I would be honored to receive your vote in the upcoming November election. Go Shoremen!
