Meeting for Ward 1 Residents is Wednesday, Feb. 20

All Ward 1 residents welcome to attend, ask questions, meet with department heads.

Mayor Zilka will once again hold town hall-style meetings for each ward beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The first meeting is for Ward 1 residents and will be held from 7 p.m. - 9 pm. at Learwood Middle School. Residents may attend, ask questions, raise concerns, give kudos or just find out what's going on in their ward. (See attached map to determine what ward you're in.)

In addition to Zilka, each ward's councilperson and department heads will be in attendance to give a brief presentation and answer questions. This includes police, service and a representative from the Avon Lake Municipal Utilities.

Zilka brought back the popular ward meetings initially instituted by former mayor Rob Berner.

“It’s an opportunity for department heads and residents to get pointers from each other and share information,” Zilka said.

He previously noted that the idea of a recreation center came out of ward meeting. The concept was eventually placed on a ballot and failed.

Other ward meetings are as follows. All meeting will be on Wednesday evenings at the following venues:

  • Ward 2:  Feb. 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Learwood Middle School
  • Ward 3:   March 6th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Troy Intermediate School
  • Ward 4:  March 13th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Troy Intermediate School
