Naigle Road Will Remain Closed Through September

Travelers who use road to access I-90 will need to continue using detour

Avon Lake residents who use Krebs Road/Naigle Road as an access to Westlake and Bay Village are going to be shut out through September.

Avon Lake City Engineer Joe Reitz was informed Aug. 28 by the Bay Village Service Director that Naigle Road will be closed before Bradley Road until the end of September to allow Bay Village to finish replacing the Porter Creek culvert in Bay. Bradley Road is open but vehicles cannot get to it because of the culvert project.

Krebs Road in Avon Lake turns into Naigle Road at the Bay Village border. The road ends at Bradley Road which is a main road for residents of both Bay Village and Avon Lake access to the I-90 Interchange.

Detours currently run down Walker Road into Bay Village.

since July 25. Residents were initially told the road would re-open Aug. 28. And while the work on Krebs Road has been completed, concrete poured for the Porter Creek culvert needs to set for 28 days.

said the situation was unfortunate but noted that when the project is complete the intersection would be vastly improved. He said the decisions pertaining to Naigle Road’s closure belonged strictly to Bay Village.

“We didn’t have to have any input but they’ve been above board with communication,” Meiners said of Bay Village. “Because of the nature of the project it can’t be changed.

“The intersection will be a better intersection when it’s done and that’s really what we want.”
