Opposes Congressman Who Made 'Legitimate Rape' Comment

Reader asks, "Guess what religion he is?"

Per the morning Plain Dealer and the Internet below is a statement from the Congressman from Missouri:

He was asked would he support abortions for women who have been raped. "It seems to me first of all from what I understand from doctors that's really rare," "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways try to shut that whole thing down." He said of a rape victim's chances of becoming pregnant. He also said that he would prefer that punishment for rape be focused on the rapist and not "attacking the child." Nothing about the women being raped.

He suggested that women who become pregnant as a result of rape are not "legitimately raped."

In 2011 he co-sponsored a bill to redefine rape. The purpose of the bill was to limit the number of survivors of rape and incest who could receive federally funded abortion care under existing law by changing the definition of rape to "forcible rape."

Now the following questions to answer:

1) Guess what party he represents?

2) Guess what group he belongs to?

3) Guess what religion he is?

1) Republican

2) Tea Party

3) Christian - Catholic

AMEN

Dan - gee, we all know the liberals have no embarassing fringe people in their party. Plus, we know this guy represents all Republicans, all Tea Party members, all Christians and all Catholics. Your comments are see as nothing more than what you intended - to try to persuade people to vote the left side of the ticket so we can have four additional years of failure.

Akin would be proclaimed by the left if he came out in drag, publicly made out with Barney Frank, burnt down a Chic-Fil-A and replaced it with a free abortion clinic!
Save the trees, whales, ozone, glaciers, Avon Lake deer, but never the unborn!

I heard that 30 of our states allow a rapist visiting rights to the child that is conceived. I don't know if this is true. If it is, it speaks volumes about how backward we still are when it comes to women and rights.

"Any man who judges by the group is a pea wit." -- Sgt. "Buster" Kilrain, the everyman immigrant and common soldier in the Pulitzer-prize-winning American Civil War novel, "The Killer Angels."
The reverse is true as well: any man who judges a group by an individual member is equally a "pea wit." Dan, I fear you find yourself in a "pea soup" of your own bitter flavoring.

This is news-worthy?
The guy want's to lump some idiot in with all Catholic's. Dan -- don't you think that's a pretty broad brush stroke you are using? With Dan's "logic" - he's male so all male's are idiots. Quit lumping me in with some idiot who made an even more idiotic comment. Like you've never, ever said anything you thought afterwords was so stupid you wondered where it came from? Or are you just perfect you can judge us all? I am a Republican. I am a Tea Party (sympathizer) I am a Catholic. Dan, you're just an idiot on the other end of the spectrum.

THIS is a front page story in the "Avon-Avon Lake Patch" ?
I noticed the local "Patch" leans left, but now it's a transparent soap box for an embarrassingly transparent point of view. So much for the "Home Town Feel". Shame

Good for you Dan, this is an important issue since this is the GOP platform and exactly how they would impose harsh restrictions on a woman's right to choose. I could care less what faith Akin is, he is dead wrong and a sorry excuse of a public servant. Republicans, Tea people and the like have a definite idea on how things should work in this Country and to heck with the rest of us. I'm for a more judge not yet ye be judged group...we have real problems caused by a the last GOP President who ran the show for 8 long years..least we forget...where were these angry Constitution wielding folks then when he was wiping the floor with it? President Obama has us crawling up out of the abyss, his hand is out all we need do is grab on to be pulled into the light.

Did you really type "President Obama has us crawling up out of the abyss, his hand is out all we need do is grab on to be pulled into the light."?
The Obama as Messiah is fascinating to me. Just grab his hand and he will pull you into the light. Wow.

Good ol Dan speading his hate like manure on a farm...Every time I read anything you post it reeks of bashing Catholics and Conservatives but you do a great job showing your liberal hate.

I am not spreading anything, just reporting whtat the congressman from Missouri said. Then added what political party he was from, what group he belonged to and what religion he was. I would have figured that someone would have condemn what he said. Also thought that for once they would speak up about women rights to control her own medical care without the government and the church deciding for her. But I guess that is too much to ask. For your information I am not a liberal and more independent on how I decide to vote and look at issues. The only good thing about the Catholic church are the nuns and their continue fight to help the poor, women, children. You will never see the priests take such a stand.

Amen! When reading these posts, you must consider the source. I am a woman and I do not feel a threat to "my rights". I have rights and I thank all the vets that fought for those rights. I have a husband who worked two jobs since he was 15 years old. We have worked for anything we have and never thought it was the Gov. job to give us anything. It just amazes me how many people think the Gov. owes them something for free. If you want something bad enough, work for it! If you can't afford it, don't buy it! We pay taxes and we certainly don't expect that money to go to giving handouts! I would be the first person to help someone that is really trying to make it on their own but just can't. However, there are way too many that are "working the system". Why arn't you more worried about illegals Dan? And if you really want to focus on someone who miss speaks, focus on your own parties VP!

"You will never see the priests take such a stand."
I know many priests who help the poor, women, children! There you go again lumping all in one group. You must have a lot of issues that you need to work out. I pray you get them worked out Dan.
