Redwood Holds 9/11 Ceremony

Teachers, staff and students honor flag presented by the American Legion

Teachers, students and staff at gathered just after the start of classes on Sept. 9 to take part in a brief ceremony of remembrance of those who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

New led the ceremony that included Sergeant-at-arms John Shondel raising the American Flag. After it was raised, children and adults saluted the flag and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Ebert then provided brief comments.

“I would like everyone to take observe a moment of silence in memory of the people who sacrificed and lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001,” Ebert said. “As American citizens, the United States became a stronger group of people. Keep faith in who you are and what our country stands for.

“Good citizenship is an important part of our lives. Respect your country, respect others, and most important, respect yourselves.”
