Utilities Employees Embrace "Bike to Work" Month

May is National Bike Month. Are you participating and riding your bike to work?

Six employees joined people across the country, ditching their cars and biking to work this morning as part of national “Ride Your Bike To Work” day.

The League of American Bicyclists is the national sponsor of Bike Month, and this year Bike to Work Week was May 16-20. Bike to Work Day was is Friday, May 20.

The League of American Bicyclist’s site has plenty of tips and suggestions, including major city rankings for “most bike friendly.” According to information supplied by the U.S. Census Bureau, the city of Cleveland ranks 43 of 244 major cities. Boulder, CO maintains the highest percentage of bicycle commuters with 12.3 percent of the population biking to work. Cleveland’s percentage is .4 percent.

Utility employees who participated were rewarded for their health and environmental conscious choice with a free deli sandwich.
