Beltz assists patients and staff as a transporter every Saturday for St. John West Shore Hospital.

He is busy in sports, playing baseball and he is a member of Avon High’s cross country team. He also plays for the Christian Youth Organization high school basketball team, which is currently undefeated.

“I’m trying to get good grades and trying to get volunteer hours,” said Beltz. "I’m just trying to be more of a leader.”

Beltz admits that his obligations can be a bit overwhelming for someone his age.

"I somehow manage to do it,” he said. “Just maintaining a 3.5 in high school with sports and everything is pretty hard.”

He has been volunteering since December and plans to continue.”I thought I wouldn’t like it, but I actually do,” he said.

His hard work he hopes will pay off one day soon.

“It’s most important to get into a good college with a scholarship and see what happens from there,” he said.
