Five Things To Do This Weekend
Catch a football game, walk to fight Alzheimer's, celebrate fall's arrival.
• Tonight is Avon High School's homecoming game, as the 3-1 Eagles host the big game vs. the Bay Rockets. Meanwhile, the Avon Lake Shoremen (3-1) play Midpark this evening at home.
• Join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s to help raise funds to assist in researching ways to fight the brain disease, which has no cure. The walk is Saturday at All-Pro Stadium in Avon, home of the Lake Erie Crushers. Events kick off at 8:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., followed by the walk.

• If you're the mood to dance or visit old classmates, on Saturday there's the Avon Homecoming Cirque de Avon Dance, which will begin at 7 p.m. at Avon High School. Tickets are $15.
• Donate blood at the Lifeshare Blood Drive starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. LifeShare Community Blood Services hosts the weekly Avon Lake Blood Donor Driver every Saturday in the Meeting Room of the Avon Lake Old Firehouse Community Center, 100 Avon Belden Rd. Registration is not necessary; just drop in and donate

• Believe it or not, Saturday is the autumn equinox, which is a polite way of saying winter is not too far off. Celebrate the new season at the Fall Kick-Off with free food, live entertainment, facepainting and more at The Rock Pile, 900 Nagel Rd. in Avon.
