Want to draw a crowd of kids between the ages of 8 and 11?
Offer something gross.
The Grossology Labs at Science Night on Thursday at and elementary schools proved that true once again.
While a lecture on what mucus does in and for the body, or on chemical reactions, may glaze eyes. Seeing science in action in a messy way will make lessons stick, teachers believe.
Lines were long for both labs, one where students learned about mucus and got to make their own faux snot and the other where they used a mixture of baking soda and vinegar inside a balloon to create burps.
