DeWitt Jones is a noted photographer who says it’s important to “Celebrate What’s Right in the World.”  He does so by sharing the moments he captures through the lens of his camera.

My wife Stacy and I love to take pictures too and we certainly celebrate what’s right in our life with these images.

If we point the lens of our camera on the community here in Avon Lake, our schools come into focus.

Stacy took a picture of our daughter once as she was thrusting her French horn in the air on stage at the Performing Arts Center. The moment was magical. She was the only French horn player in the Troy Band and her pride was as evident as the smiles on the faces of her classmates surrounding her.

As each summer finds its final days, we take a picture of all four of our children as they head off to another “First Day of School.”  We’ve been capturing those memory filled moments for 12 years now. What I see every time are the eager eyes of my kids and the love they hold for learning.

I believe the academic excellence of our schools is the identity of our community. We are producing an album full of snapshots that forms the foundation for the future of our Avon Lake students. Our future. It’s a foundation worth celebrating, standing up and pounding your chest about and then protecting.

In our minds eye, when we celebrate what is right in our schools we see images of us.

Celebrate what is right. Support the Avon Lake City Schools.
