Big Ride for Big Readers

Redwood students rack up the reading minutes, get rewarded with a limo ride...and pizza.

Several Redwood Elementary School students got the ride of a lifetime last week after posting big reading numbers.

Redwood students participated in a Summer Reading Challenge this past summer and totalled 143,719 minutes, an average of 1,732 minutes per day over the summer.

This total would also equate to watching The Lorax 1,617 times or 4,791 episodes of Phineas and Ferb.

The top overall readers at each grade level along with a random students who participated over the summer enjoyed a lunch with Redwood Principal T. J  Ebert. The limousine was as donated by Safe and Reliable Limo Service of Avon.

Domino’s Pizza of Avon Lake donated pizza and part of the lunch was paid for Redwood's Market Day Products.

"Special thanks to Nicole Slivinski and Michelle Allen PTA chairs, and the rest of the Redwood PTA for helping with this event" Ebert said in an email.
