Snapshots: Avon Lake Graduation

You only live once.

graduated 306 seniors on June 2 at an outdoor ceremony at the school.

Pictured are the graduating seniors and class Valedictorian Michael Butrey.

Butrey addressed his fellow graduates by telling them, “You Only Live Once.” Butrey went on to say that his fellow graduates must take control of the variables they can control and to, “Bite off more than you can chew and chew it.” Butrey graduated with a 4.75 GPA and will attend The Ohio State University in the fall.

Patch will publish Butrey's speech in its entirety on Tuesday, along with Valedictorian's speech.

The 2011-12 graduating class of Avon Lake High School earned over $17 million in scholarships throughout the school year. Dr. Joanie A. Walker, the school's principal, announced that the amount earned is the highest in school history.
