Students, Parents Come Out for Science Night

Event at Heritage North and Heritage South draws almost 2,000 people

Did you know that the average person swallows about a litre of snot a day?

That's one of the fun facts kids learned at Science Night at Heritage North and Heritage South elementary schools Thursday night.

The event is designed to show kids how science is fun, and relevant in their lives, said fifth grade teacher Amy Rottman.

Exhibits were devoted to chemistry, natural science and physics in ways kids can relate to. They could look at rocks, see liquid nitrogen freeze balloons until they shatter, and use common household products to learn how mucus is created in the body.
