Westview Kids Stick it To Principal Holland

More than 68 rolls of duct tape were used to stick Paul Holland to a wall, even if was for just a few seconds.

Not even 68 rolls of duct tape could hold Mr. Holland to a wall.

After almost two hours of applying duct tape to Westview Elementary School principal Paul Holland, all in the name of charity, the big moment was a bit of a let down. Holland stood on a bench while more than 200 strips of duct tape were put in place of hopes of sticking him to the gym wall.

When it came time to remove the bench, Holland – who said he was “a lot of pounds” – remained suspended for a few seconds before the tape gave way and he dropped to the ground.

The stunt was part of the Stuck for a Buck fundraiser Westview held on Feb. 17. The event was organized by teachers and parents in conjunction with the Kiwanis Kids Club (K-Kids).

Students purchased a piece of duct tape for $1 with all proceeds benefitting the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society.

Parent Lisa Petrella, who helped organize “Stuck 4 A Buck,” gave credit to the K-Kids for helping sell tape.

“We have 31 K-Kids at Westview,” she said. “They’ve done a great job.” K-Kids are the school's youth service organization.

Diane Smith, who also helped set up the event said the entire school was invited to the assembly.

“We had about 100 kids buy tape; it all benefits the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society,” Smith said.

For his part, Holland stood patiently for more than 90 minutes while students, staff and parents placed tape over him. Students were kept under control courtesy of a disc jockey playing favorite tunes.
