Avon Teens Travel To Pony World Series

Premier Pythons of northeast Ohio will play first game on Friday

Three Avon teenagers will play in the Pony World Series on Friday in California with the Premier Pythons 13-and-up baseball team.

Ethan St. Clair, Logan Doenges and Griffin Hunt’s versatility on the field is what coach Mark Mohnickey believes enforces the team’s success and 57-8 record.

Their flexibility makes them an asset to the team, said coach Mark Mohnickey, who teaches his player different positions to make them more marketable when they reach high school.

Each teammate plays between two and three positions on the field.

“They’re good athletes and they want to be coachable and successful baseball players,” Mohnickey said.

The team traveled to Fullerton, CA on Thursday, after winning the Pony Eastern Zone Championship last week.

The Pythons will face Jurupa, a California team, on Friday.

“We just have to stay in the right mindset and not let the stage get to us,” Mohnickey said of the competition ahead.
