Avon-Avon Lake Gridiron Game Opens FOX Sports ‘Game of the Week’

Once again, FOX Sports network is bringing its Emmy award-winning live coverage of high school football between celebrated rival match-ups into homes this season, with the Avon-Avon Lake rivalry kicking off the season.

High school football on FOX Sports Ohio opens the season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. in Northern Ohio when the Avon Lake Shoremen visit the Avon Eagles.

Those out of town may be able to catch the game online as it is simulcast on FOXSportsOhio.com.

Ten exclusive games will air live on Thursday evenings this fall.

The Northern Ohio games will feature color analyst Frank Stams. For the Avon/Avon Lake game he will sit aside play-by-play announcer Mike Cairns and Andre Knott who will be reporting from the sidelines. 

Each week’s telecast will promote the schools’ other sports and activities through interviews with athletic directors, principals and other key faculty.

Both teams marching bands will be highlighted at halftime and the game will feature the friendly “SOUPer Bowl” to raise donations for Community Resource Services (CRS).
