Crushers Boosters Gather, Discuss 2012 season

Haas family opens home to Boosters for a night of fun

As the temperatures and snow fell Friday night, the party at Chris and Sandy Haas' Avon Lake home was all about summer.

The boys of summer.

The Haas family opened their home to fellow Booster Club members for a party. Chris Haas is president of in Avon, for which is named.

It was a friendly, informal gathering with beer and wine at the bar and Sandy Haas' homemade chili in the kitchen. Since it was a baseball party, there were also hot dogs.

Crushers pitcher Andrew Weeks showed up, as did the man who plays Crushers mascot Stomper.

Club treasurer Maryjane Edgar said the club is planning more activities for 2012. A Meet the Crushers party will be held at sometime during the team's spring training in early May.

Every Sunday the Crushers play at home, the club will be tailgating.

"Bring some food, have some fun and meet some of the players," Edgar said.

The team will also do a few 50-50 raffles at games, host an All-Star Break party at Two Bucks, and have an end-of-season picnic.

Mary-Margaret Kohut added that the team will be offering a Sponsor a Player program, where members can provide support to a specific Crushers player, like giving them their favorite snacks for road trips or making a scrapbook of their season.

Want to join the Crushers Booster Club? Membership is $20 for adults, $10 for children and $100 for businesses. Contact the club at crushersboosterclub@gmail.com.
