Josh Roberts Pitches Shutout as Lake Erie Crushers Keep Playoff Bid Alive

Josh Roberts pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout as the stayed ahead in the playoff chase with a 4-0 win over the Rockford RiverHawks Friday night in front of a crowd of 3,546 at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The win keeps the Crushers (46-41) a half-game ahead of the Traverse City Beach Bums for the second and final playoff spot in the Frontier League's Eastern Division. The Beach Bums beat the Windy City Thunderbolts, 6-2, Friday night.

Roberts (9-6, 4.26 earned run average) struck out four and walked one, the team reported.

Jereme Milons got the Crushers offense going with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The Crushers got two in the fourth and another in the eighth.

Andrew Davis hit his 37th double of the season, tops in the Frontier League.

The Crushers and RiverHawks play at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Paul Fagan (6-10, 4.36) will start for the Crushers.
