Kellen Kulbacki Helps Power Lake Erie Crushers to Fifth Straight Win

Crushers reach .500 with victory

Another strong hitting night led the to their fifth straight win Saturday night, 8-4, over the Evansville Otters in front of a crowd of 2,486 at .

The win put the Crushers at .500 (35-35). They remain 1 1/2 games behind the Traverse City Beach Bums for the final Frontier League Eastern Division playoff spot.

Kellen Kulback hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to break a 1-1 tie, the team reported. Evan Sharpley drove in a run with a sacrifice fly later in the inning to put the Crushers up, 5-1.

Jason Taylor had four hits, scoring three runs and driving in one. Sharpley had two hits and two RBI. 

Randy Sturgill (6-1, 3.16 earned run average) pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out one to get the victory. Travis Risser pitched three scoreless innings for his fifth save.

Thomas Campbell (2-0, 2.31) is slated to start for the Crushers on Sunday as they look for their second straight series sweep. Game time is 5:05 p.m. It's Dog Day at the stadium, so bring your pooch for some dog-friendly fun.
