Kellen Kulbacki's Game-Winning Hit in Bottom of Ninth Lifts Lake Erie Crushers to Eighth Straight Win

Crushers remain half-game behind Traverse City for final playoff spot

Kellen Kulbacki hit a two-out, walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give the a 3-2 win over the Florence Freedom in front of a crowd of 1,574 at .

The win is the eighth in a row for the Crushers (38-35). They remain a half-game behind the Traverse City Beach Bums for the final Frontier League East Division playoff spot, the team reported.

With the Crushers trailing, 2-1, in the seventh, Jereme Milons singled home Kyle Shaffer from second to tie the game. The game remained tied until the ninth.

Shaffer started the inning with a double, but then Florence pitcher  Corey Martin retired the next two batters. Patrick Norris then singled to get Shaffer over to third. Andrew Davis was walked to load the bases. Then Kulbacki singled to end the game.

Kelyn Schellenberg (2-1, 1.58 earned run average) pitched two perfect innings of relief to get the win.

The Crushers and Freedom wrap up their series with a 7:05 p.m. game Thursday. Eric Gonzalez-Diaz (0-0, 0.00) gets the start for the Crushers.
