Kaiser Permanente was again the presenting sponsor for the race. The event also included a 5k walk and a kids fun run.

Other major sponsors were FlavorSeal, Avon Commons, and GreenQuest.
“Kaiser Permanente is committed to improving the total health of the communities we serve, and we are proud to sponsor the 2013 Avon Eagle Run,” Audra Kessler, Kaiser Permanente’s Director of Marketing, said.

In addition to festivities and food and a warm-up tent provided by the French Creek YMCA, Avon Mayor Jim Smith provided opening remarks and Chris Carroll said a short prayer before the start of the race.

Fifty percent of the race proceeds go toward the Avon School Educational Endowment Fund. The principal is never spent and the interest on the money is used for special projects and programs for Avon youth.

The remainder of the proceeds will go to the Avon YMCA and other local charities, including Community Resource Services.
