Avon Lake topped Elyria and is hoping to defend 2011 District title.

Currently, the Shoregals, with a 19-5 record, are ranked No. 18 in the state.

“They were very focused tonight,” Coach Dan Berkheimer told the Chronicle-Telegram. “We played very clean. I don’t think we had a passing error or a hitting error until the third game.”

Bohan led the Shoregals’  serving with four aces.

“Bohan really found her serve at the end there,” Berkheimer told the Morning Journal. “She was struggling a little bit, but then she found it. When she’s got that topspin going, everybody has trouble.”

Starting time for Thursday’s championship is 7:30 p.m.

The winner between Avon Lake and Brunswick on Thursday night will head to Brecksville-Broadview Heights on Nov. 1 in the Norwalk Regional Semifinal against the winner of North Royalton and Strongsville.
