Zeh, Kvach Honored for Work On, Off Football Field

Duo football players earn Avon Leadership Summit award.

This week, two Avon High School athletes received the Avon Leadership Summit Award for outstanding achievement in their sport and exceptional character on and off the field of play. The ceremony took place on Monday, Oct. 22, at the Avon VFW.

Fall athletes David Zeh and Mark Kvach were honored for their contributions to their football team and were each presented with a certificate and challenge coin.

The first recipient of the night was Mark Kvach, a senior running back and defensive back. Mark is described as unselfish and “a perfect person for the award.”

"He does all that is asked of him to help the team win and has the talent that is expected for our athletes at Avon," coach Sam Ulery said. "He isn’t in it for his dispatch this year he is in it for the team."

Several football coaches have said Kvach is one of the most unselfish players and one of the most fitted players for this award.

The second recipient was David Zeh, a senior starting quarter back, described as "very good at thinking on his feet."

"He has grown so much since he started learning the game," quarterback coach Lee Powell said, adding that Zeh is received the award is because of his dedication to the team and his dedication to learning his role as quarterback. 

Avon Leadership Summit Awards are held at the Avon VFW Post 7035 on Mondays at 8:30 p.m.to acknowledge Avon sport athletes. This event is open to the public. The awards will resume when winter sports start again.
