How Hot Does a Closed Car Get in the Summer Sun? See For Yourself

Many people don't realize the dangers posed to children and pets left in a car on a hot day.

By Mitch Cooper

With two recent instances of people leaving a pet and a child in a hot car, Twinsburg and Solon Patch Local Editor Mitch Cooper thought he'd see what that's like.

In Beachwood a woman was cited for leaving her dog in a hot caron Tuesday.
And on Saturday July 13, a woman was arrested for leaving her 11-month-old child in a hot car alone

Cooper braved 30 minutes in a hot car Friday when the outside temperature was in the 90s. He did it wearing a sweatshirt to appreciate what it's like to be a child or a pet in a hot car.

How hot do you think it got? Watch this video and find out. And if it helps remind you to never ever leave a child or pet in a hot car, better yet.
