Lakefront Wine Festival Blends Summer, Wineries

Sample wine, grab a bite and enjoy this summer afternoon/evening event.

The second annual Lakefront Wine Festival, sponsored by the Avon Lake Waterfront group will allow visitors a chance to sample area wineries wares, enjoy some music and food, all while taking in spectacular views of Lake Erie.

The festival starts at 4 p.m. on July 13 at Veterans Memorial Park in Avon Lake and will continue until sunset. Last year’s inaugural festival resulted in a near sell out of food, with more than 1,000 attending.  

The cost is $20 for a signature wine glass and 10 one-ounce tasting tickets; additional tickets will also be on sale. This is an over-21 event.

John Christ and Klingshirn Wineries both of Avon Lake, Matus Winery and Vermilion Valley Vineyards of Wakeman and Paper Moon Vineyards in Vermilion are the participating wineries.

Salad Kraze, Lenny’s Deli, Mark Pi’s China Gate, Jenny Juggs, Giant Eagle, Novotny Catering, Cafe Melissa, Legacy Restaurant and Rio Café, all of Avon Lake will, provide food and beverages for purchase. Friends of the Park will sell soda and the Avon Lake Water Department will be providing water.

The festival will also features numerous area artists including Robert Moyer and Edward Beyer,  Vicki Burns, Lois Toole, Barb Swasey and  Kenneth Smith,Erin Schechtman, Jack Koch, Barbara Swasey, Mark Brabant, Nancy Notarianni, Rita Hanna, Kaetlyn McCafferty, Rose Haserodt, Erin Schechtman, Barbara Swasey, Mark Brabant, Nancy Notarianni, Rita Hanna, Kaetlyn McCafferty and Rose Haserodt.

Around Acoustic, GNT and Paul Christensen will be performing during the festival.

Vendors also include MaryLou Denman, Northcoast Grapevine Tours, Hazel Chapman (Eagle's Lace), Stephanie Nighman, Deanne Conley (Natural Wonder Design), Peter & Co. Jewelers, The Olive Scene and Urban Street Eclectic.

Parking: A free shuttle will be running from Avon Lake High School’s parking lot to the park. Handicapped parking is available at the Folger Home. Parking is available at Bleser Park, Christ Lutheran Church, the Old Firehouse and City Hall.
