ALMU Board Chairman Retires; Board Seeks Candidates

Chuck Whitmer has announced his retirement from the ALMU Board after 17 years of service. The Board is seeking candidates to serve his unexpired term.

Chuck Whitmer, Avon Lake Board of Municipal Utilities Chairman, has announced that he will retire from the Board effective October 1, 2012. Chuck has served on the Board for 17 years, 13 of which as Board Chairman, and brought a wealth of knowledge through his experience as president of The Whitmer Company, a consulting and distribution business in the water treatment and swimming pool industry. During his tenure, Avon Lake Municipal Utilities (ALMU) has significantly grown its customer base and has increased capacity at its water filtration plant by nearly 50 percent. This has helped Avon Lake customers have some of the lowest water bills in the state, while meeting all state regulations and regularly winning taste tests.

The Board’s focus on assuring the best balance of quality, quantity, cost, and service leads to high customer marks when asked how they would rate ALMU. Chuck strived to ensure ALMU hired and retained top-quality staff, committed to providing excellent service. Chuck’s presence will be missed.

The Board is seeking candidates to fill Mr. Whitmer’s term until December 31, 2015. Interested individuals should visit www.avonlakewater.org or call Todd Danielson, Chief Utilities Executive, at 440-933-6226 to learn more. Cover letters and resumes should be sent to tdanielson@avonlakewater.org prior to close of business September 24, 2012; at which time, the Board will begin the screening and selection process.
