Showdown in East Lansing as Wisconsin Faces Sparty

Michigan St faces Wisconsin LSU faces Auburn Stanford faces Washington

Even with OSU having a week off, and deserving every bit of it right now, there are several top 25 matchups that may settle the frustration that several people have had with the BCS rankings. Well, lets get going.

First is a possible first match between two teams that are poised to win their respective divisions. Wisconsin v Michigan State will show the nation if Wisconsin is real, or a just another Big Ten fluke. On the opposite side, it will either legitimize Michigan State as a top 15 team in the nation, or expose the Big Ten as a very weak conference.

When Wisconsin went up against Nebraska, people thought that this was the showdown for the Big Ten, and all it proved was Nebraska is not that good on defense…or on offense, and that Wisconsin is a team that should be feared. With their two RBs that have combined for over 1000 yards of rushing and 20 Touchdowns, Michigan’s status as the Number 1 defense in the nation is really going to be tested. Containing Denard Robinson is easier, than stopping this Wisconsin running game. On the other side, Michigan St doesn’t have a prolific offense, and at times has struggled to score a lot of points against than Wisconsin. Michigan State needs to pass early, and often, if they are going to be able to run on this Wisconsin defense.

All in all I think this game will be close for about two and a half quarters, Wisconsin will wear out MSU’s defense.
Prediction: Wisconsin 38 Michigan St. 17

Two of the luckiest teams of recent memory face off in Baton Rouge Louisiana as the Auburn Tigers travel to play the LSU Tigers. Cat fight! There isn’t much going for Auburn in this game, they barely squeaked out a win against Florida last weekend, but if they get lucky anything can happen. LSU on the other hand, has one of the strongest defenses in the nation. All odds are saying LSU should stomp on Auburn, but I have a feeling it will be closer than the experts expect.

Prediction: LSU 45 Auburn 35

The last game is a matchup that a year ago not many people would have cared about. Washington at Stanford, the battle for the PAC-12 North (at least so far). There are currently 3 teams undefeated in division play in the PAC-12, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington. Stanford, led by Heisman hopeful Andrew Luck has had one of the easiest schedules in the NCAA. There toughest game so far was against Arizona, which they won 37-10. This game may tilt the Heisman trophy in Luck’s favor, or at least prove himself to be deserving of it. For Washington, this game can mean the entire season, and possibly a rose bowl berth at the end of the season. Will Stanford’s easy schedule thus far have Stanford looking to their matchup with Oregon? This game is ripe for the Upset!

Although I would love to pick Stanford to lose, this just won’t happen. They will likely struggle a bit in the beginning of the game, but Stanford is better on every part of the game.

Prediction: Stanford 51 Washington 32
