Donations Wanted, Date Set for Folger Flea

Annual flea market at the Folger Home is one week from Thursday. Drop offs early next week.

The Folger Flea is back for its 11th year. Introduced in 2002, the annual flea market at the big yellow house in Veterans Park supports renovations to the historic Folger Home building. 

Volunteers will be collecting items on June 17-19, ahead of the sale, held June 20-22.

Residents can drop off unwanted household items, kitchenware, picture frames, glassware, small appliances, chairs, tables, recliners, decorative items, electronics, books, tools, sporting goods, miscellaneous items. No clothing or large appliances will be accepted.

“We’ll take the small stuff,” trustee and past president John Earley said.

It’s one of the major fundrisers for the renovations for the Folger Home,” Earley said. “The other is the Chili Cook Off."

Earley said renovations to the first floor are now complete, and proceeds from the Folger Flea will be used to begin rehabilitating the second floor.

“The inside west end is just being finished, including the  floors and windows,” Earley said.  “The whole second floor hasn’t been touched.

“We put on a roof a few yeas ago, that was $16 grand. " The event usually brings in about $1,600 annually.

Drop off dates: June 17,18,19

Donate your items at the Folger Home, 32770 Lake Rd., in Avon Lake. Since the Avon Lake Landmark Preservation Society, which manages the Folger Home, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donation will be tax deductible (Receipts will be provided.)

Sales dates: June 20, 21, 22
