How to Donate Fresh Produce From Your Garden

Needy families can benefit from your bounty

Every Monday through the end of September, gardeners can bring any excess veggies and fruits from their gardens to the  before 6 p.m. and deposit them in a basket at the back of the building.

The donated produce will be taken the in Avon Lake and distributed to residents receiving emergency food assistance.

While the program is called Plant-A-Row, any donation -- large or small -- will be accepted and appreciated, said Fran Burik, president of the Avon Garden Club.

“If it’s one pepper or a dozen peppers,” she said, “anybody who has a garden is welcome to donate.”
