Nominations Wanted for Avon Lake Citizen, Project of the Year

Winning volunteer, project leaders will be honored at a May dinner.

The Avon Lake Community Council is accepting nominations for the Citizen of the Year and Project of the Year awards for 2011. The Citizen of the Year nominee must be a resident of Avon Lake and should have provided a significant amount of volunteer work to the community.

The Project of the Year can be any service, school, city, or citizen project that made a significant contribution to the community.

“As in the past, nominees have been individuals who have volunteered their time and talents to better our community through individual efforts and through various participation in organizations in Avon Lake,” O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell, who doubles as the , said the Community Council has a committee to select the volunteer and project of the year.

The deadline for nominations is March 16. Nomination forms can be found at www.avonlake.org, at City Hall (1st floor), the Avon Lake Public Library, and through all organizations belonging to the Avon Lake Community Council. All nominations should be sent to Marty O’Donnell at 150 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, Ohio 44012 or sent via email at modonnell@avonlake.org. Any questions or requests for nomination forms should be directed to O’Donnell at 440-933-7310. The winners will be honored at a dinner in May.

The Community Council consists of members from local civic organizations whose focus is to promote and perpetuate the Citizen of the Year and Project of the Year Awards, and to bring the various community organizations together for the betterment of the entire community. All groups are welcome to join as well as individuals who are not members of a civic organization. Annual dues are $10 for an organization and $5 for an individual.
