Scouts Earn Bronze Award For Assisting Genesis House

Women's shelter receives bags of toiletries.

Five fifth-grade junior girl scouts from Avon Lake Troop 157 recently carried out a donation drive for Genesis House, a Lorain County women’s shelter. Collecting thousands of personal care items and toys, the girls packaged and delivered the items for battered women and children.

The girls spent more than 20 hours on the project, packaging 80 one-gallon Ziplock personal care bags and donated about 15 additional shopping bags and boxes of toiletries for the shelter’s pantry shelves.

The project earned the girls a Bronze Award, the highest honor given to junior girl scouts.
