Sun Comes Out, Dogs Hit the Pool: Gallery

400 dogs, 500 people, enjoy a day in the pool.

After a wet and windy morning on Sept. 8, the rains stopped and both the sun--and the dogs came out to enjoy the annual event at the 

"It turned out to be a perfect day," Love-A-Stray founder and event organizer Connie Field said. "Early estimates show approximately 400 dogs and 500 people (attended). 

This year the event added a couple of new "elements" that really made a positive impact, Field said.

"An awesome  D.J., Jon Heasley with Eazy-N-Crew Music Productions, really jazzed up our event with great music, and he also helped by announcing contests times and raffle basket winners. Jon donated his time in the name of non-profit rescue."

In addition to opening the pool--which closed for the season the week before--to dogs, the event featured food and plenty of dog contests, from smallest pooch to biggest splash.

Several agencies also had dogs to adopt. 

"FIDO's Companion ran the concession stand, and they did a fantastic job," Field said. "Both Love-A-Stray and FIDO's Companion had lots of interest in our dogs available for adoption."
