5 Things to Know this Week: Baseball, Golf and 100s of Homes for Sale

Here's 5 things you need to know this week:

  • Get your tickets TODAY for the Thirsty Thursday fundraiser for the Avon prom: Tickets are $9 and need to be purchased by August 12. You cannot get them at the stadium. We will be outside Avon High School Sundays 2-4 p.m. and Mondays-Thursdays 6-8 p.m. selling tickets. Please contact 440-864-3662 with any questions.
  • The City of Avon Lake is seeking residents who are interested in serving on the West End Redevelopment Commission. The Commission will serve as an advisory body on issues related to the conversion of the NRG Energy Inc. plant (formerly  GenOn Energy Inc.) and potential redevelopment of the area.  Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume to the Clerk of Council at 150 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, Ohio, 44012 or to bdopp@avonlake.org.
  • Starting the week of Aug. 12, there are 183 properties  for sale in Avon, according to Zillow.  The most expensive is for 32 acres on Chester Road for $6.2 million. The least expensive property is for $44,500 for .73 acres on Case Road.
  • Starting the week of Aug. 12, there are 221 properties  for sale in Avon Lake, according to Zillow.  The most expensive is for $4.95 million for a Lake Road house. The least expensive property is for $30,000 for a Moore Road apartment. 
  • Avon FOP Lodge 145 Annual Golf Outing: The Annual Avon FOP 145 Golf Outing at Bob o Links in Avon is Wednesday. Outing includes 18 holes of golf and cart, lunch and steak dinner after.
