The Avon Lake Municipal Court serves the cities of Avon, Avon Lake and Sheffield Village. The court handles misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases and refers felony cases to the grand jury of the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas. The court has one part-time judge, Darrel Bilancini.

The court is in session on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Traffic and criminal case proceedings are held between 8am and 12:30pm. Civil cases are heard from 1:30pm to 4pm.

The court maintains a website where court records can be searched and other information concerning the court can be found. The Avon Lake Municipal Court is located within the city's Safety Center on Walker Road, which also houses the Avon Lake police and fire departments.
