Walker Road Park is jointly owned by the city of Avon Lake and the city of Bay Village. In 2001, a large retention pond was added, helping to alleviate flooding problems in the area.
Work on the recreational section commenced in 2004 and continues to develop. Both cities have contributed equally to developing the park, which now includes soccer fields, a winding walking and bike path, and the large pond.
