Herbert C. Fleming, Owned Fleming Remodeling

Father, grandfather to Avon Lake residents.

Herbert C. Fleming passed away peacefully at the Hospice House of the Western Reserve in the loving care of his family on April 5, 2013. Herbert, of Sheffield Lake, was a warm, wonderful, funny and deeply beloved boyfriend, father, brother and friend have left many touched lives with a great void and profound sense of loss. He will be deeply missed by many.  Herb grew up in Parma and resided in Sheffield Lake for the past 40 years. He is a Vietnam Vet in the Marines, a member of Habitat of Humanity and retired paramedic firefighter.  He was the retired owner of Fleming Remodeling and the former president of the Sheffield Lake Kiwanis Club. Bryan Kyle Wedell, 22, ALHS Class of 2009: Obituary

Services are Monday and Tuesday.

Bryan Kyle Wedell, 22 of Avon Lake passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, April 5, 2013. Bryan was born June 5, 1990 in Cleveland and was a lifelong resident of Avon Lake. He was a graduate of Avon Lake High School Class of 2009 and attended Lorain County Community College. He was employed the past three years as a plumber with Avon Lake Plumbing. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Avon Lake. Bryan enjoyed snow-boarding, skate-boarding, fishing and boating. His family will always remember his great sense of humor, his charm and good looks. Lynn Bolling of Avon Lake, Former Owner of Bolling Oven in Avon

Charter boat captain loved the outdoors.

Lynn H. Bolling, 70, of Avon Lake, passed away on Friday, March 29 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland in 1943, Bolling lived in Avon Lake for 30 years. He was a graduate of Bay High School and following graduation enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was the owner of Bolling Oven and Machine Co., Avon, for over 40 years retiring in 2005. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was also a charter boat captain of his boat the "Albe-What?", taking fishing charters on Lake Erie. Lynn is survived by his wife of 36 years Donna J. (nee Serensky), children Elizabeth Ann Strauch (Rick) of Indian Trail, NC and Robert Andrew Bolling of Avon Lake and grandson James Lynn Strauch. George Edward Junke Sr.: Obituary

Built wooden models despite losing part of his right hand in an accident.

With little fanfare, an Avon Lake legend George Edward Junke Sr., 80, passed away on March 26 Fairview Hospital, and slipped away quietly in his sleep. All his children who could do so, visited with him before his death, and he was aware of their presence. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his stories. But he will be remembered, also, for his artistry and craftsmanship, especially considering the work accident in his youth which left him with only about a third of his right hand. The most important piece was there though: his thumb. And he, to his credit didn't let his disability keep him from doing anything his imagination could come up with. Robert passed away on March 24 after a lengthy illness.

Robert E. Eberhard, 74, formerly of Rocky River, died Sunday, March 24 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake after a lengthy illness. Robert was born on March 11, 1939 in Columbus, according to tributes.com. Robert worked several years in his Dad's grocery business in Johnstown, Ohio before relocating to Northeast Ohio.  Robert worked for Metro Health Medical Center as a Collections Manager for 25 years. He enjoyed his friends, reading, gardening, traveling and walking his dog, Hercules. He is survived by his brother, David (Beth) Eberhard of Naples, FL; sister, Janet Lucas of Columbus; and nieces and nephews. Charles Hammer: Obituary

Hammer passed away on March 26.

Charles F. "Chuck" Hammer, 80, of Avon Lake, passed away March 26 at the Ames Family Hospice House. Chuck was born March 10, 1933 in Lafayette, Ohio. He graduated from Waynesfield High School in 1951 and served in the US Navy Air Wing during the Korean War, according to the Busch Funeral Home.  He continued his education at Ohio State University and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. He later earned a Masters Degree in Education from Kent State University. Chuck was a teacher for the Avon Lake Schools for 24 years. He taught Science, Mechanical Drawing and Industrial Arts. He also coached football and basketball at Learwood Junior High. Chuck is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaDene Hammer (nee Shaw) and children …

Ralph Joseph Matysiak, 88, of Avon, passed away on  March 16, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.He was born Oct. 5, 1924 in Lorain. Ralph grew up in Brooklyn, New York and Lorain, but lived in Lorain for most of his life until moving to Avon in 1988, where he resided for 21 years. He spent the last four years at West Bay Nursing Facility in Westlake, where he made many friends that he considered extended family. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1942 and was drafted into the Army in 1943, where he attended the ASTP program at the University of Pennsylvania, he then was assigned to the 3093 Refrigeration Company, Butcher Platoon. Meredith was also the former president of the Avon Lake Rotary Club.

Meredith Dee Coleman, former pastor of Lake Shore United Methodist Church passed away on March 17, 2013 in Jefferson, Ohio. She was born on July 11, 1951. Meredith had a student appointment with Scioto & Harmony Methodist Church from 87-88 and was appointed the pastor of Lake Shore United Methodist Church in 1991, serving until 1997, when she was appointed to the Jefferson United Methodist Church, where she was serving when she passed away. She passed away the morning of March 17, after a short, but courageous battle against cancer. Always sensitive to fellow believers, "Pastor Meredith" finished her race on the birthday of her earthly father, the Rev. Parker West. Shirley Rogers: Obituary

Avon Lake resident Shirley Rogers passed away at 83 last week.

Shirley B. Rogers, 83, of Avon Lake, passed away on March 16. Rogers graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1947 and Bowling Green State University in 1951 with a business degree, according to tributes.com.  Rogers loved her afghan hounds and cats. She also enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Rogers is survived by her sons David and Mark; sister Priscilla Kleir; and brother, Dale Beetler. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger whom she was married to for 49 years; parents Edward and Virginia Butler (Bowman); and brother, Ned Beetler. The visitation will be held at Busch Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 8 p.m.
