Avon Lake Woman Charged in Human Trafficking

Jeremy Mack of Elyria and Ashley Onysko, 23, of Avon Lake charged.

The FBI charged two people today, including a woman from Avon Lake, with human trafficking. Jeremy Mack, 37, of Elyria, and Ashley Onysko, of Avon Lake, who turned 23 today, were charged May 10 with two counts of sex trafficking (one involving a minor) in a criminal complaint unsealed today in U.S. District Court. The pair was charge after forcing a 16-year-old girl and 19-year-old woman to have sex for money, Stephen D. Anthony, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Cleveland office, and Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, said. “Human trafficking often happens in plain sight,” Anthony said. “The FBI, our law enforcement partners, along with the assistance of vigilant citizens will continue …

Fugitive Wanted After Kicking In Door of His Child's Mother's Home

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Deandre Peterson.

Deandre Peterson is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff for escape, the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for conditions of release violations and the Cleveland Division of Police for domestic violence. Peterson had an original charge of drug possession. The domestic violence charge stems from an incident when Peterson kicked in the door at the home belonging to the mother of his child in January of this year. Peterson, 31, is a black male standing approximately 5’09” and weighing 183 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Peterson is suspected to be hiding out somewhere in Cleveland. Man Hits Tree, Almost Hits Child and Walmart Caper Goes Awry

This week in Avon’s police logs: A North Long Road man was charged with hit/skip after Avon Police received a call at 8:30 p.m. on April 30 that a blue SUV driven by a man with white hair drove off the road, struck a tree and then fled the area. An off-duty officer then called in to report his neighbor may be following the vehicle. Why? Because the car drove into the neighbor's yard and barely missed hitting his child. Police were able to get a better description of the car: a dark blue Ford Edge missing a headlight. They were able to trace a car fitting that desciption to a North Long Road residence. Crafty Scam Nets Thief Cases of Beer A man has hit two Giant Eagle stores in Fairlawn with a scam that allowed him to walk out with multiple cases of free beer. According to the report, the man identified himself to the manager as a Tramonte Distributing employee who had come to inventory the shelves for outdated beer. He went into the cooler and loaded six cases of Miller Lite and a six-pack of Miller Lite into a shopping cart, then wheeled it out to his car and left. Fugitive of the Week Wanted on Robbery And Firearms Charges

Dixon, while on probation, and his four codefendants are accused of kidnapping, robbing and assaulting people at gunpoint.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Cantreall Dixon, who is accused of robbing people at gunpoint. Dixon, 21, and his four codefendants are accused of kidnapping, robbing and assaulting people at gunpoint on or around September 20 in Cleveland.  Because Dixon was on probation with Cuyahoga County during the time of the robbery, he was also charged by the Cuyahoga County Sherriff’s Office for violating his probation.  His original charge was carrying a concealed weapon. Dixon has repeatedly been among the Fugitives of the Week. He is wanted by the U.S. Marshals, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Cleveland Division of Police.  Dixon is about…

Gas Main Break on Detroit Road Now Contained

No injuries after construction worker hit main gas line.

Residents and commuters driving down Detroit Road near Mitchell’s Ice Cream April 10 and concerned over a strong smell of gas can rest easy: The break of a gas main line has been contained and Avon Fire expects the smell to dissipate in the near future. The Avon Fire Department was called at 1:59 p.m. Wednesday after construction workers in front of Market Place (across from Pickering Hill Farms) struck a gas main. Fire department vehicles and personnel immediately went to the location and stood by while officers directed traffic. Drivers in the area noted plenty of emergency vehicles and fire personnel in the area. The break resulted in a strong gas odor that could be smelled as far away as SR 83.
