Got Mitts? Here’s Where to Donate Them

Clean out that basement and garage...mitts will be donated to the Lorain County Boys & Girls Club.

Students at Avon Lake High School are collecting no-longer-wanted baseball mitts to donate to the Lorain County Boys & Girls Club. Avon Lake High School student Adam Drapcho said he was inspired by his father and a Shoreman baseball coach. “The idea started with my dad (Joe Draphcho) and one of the assistant coaches of the baseball team, Mr. (Joe) Prendergast,” Drapcho, who plays on the Shoremen varsity baseball team, said. “They thought it would be a good idea to get a mitt collection going; they just needed someone to bring the idea to the school.” Drapcho volunteered. “I was happy to help, so I brought the project to (ALHS) Key Club knowing they would be a huge help in getting the project going,” he said. I read somewhere that the Boys and Girls Club receive grant money for equipment and uniform costs from the Major League Baseball Tomorrow Fund. So, why does the Boy's and Girls Club need donated mitts or anything donated related to baseball or softball for that matter?   more ›
