Unknown Man Tries to Access Store Security

Police keep eye out for him

An employee at the AT&T store on Detroit Road told police on Dec. 29 that a man came into the store claiming to work for the store's security system provider and that he needed to get into the back of the store. He didn't have an ID or work order. The security system company said they sent no one to the store. Police provided extra patrols. Breaking up is hard to do A man requested police assistance on Dec. 29 when he told them his ex-wife was going to burn his possessions still at their home. Police went with him to collect his belongings, and he was able to do so and leave without any problems.

Avon Man Home After Crash

Scott Gibson injured in I-90 crash

The Avon man flown by emergency helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland following a two-car crash on Interstate 90 Tuesday afternoon is home. Scott Gibson, 40, was treated and released from MetroHealth on Tuesday evening, said a MetroHealth spokesperson on Wednesday. According to Avon police, Gibson was driving his 1996 Ford Ranger on I-90 westbound just before the Route 611 exit when he struck a 1995 Ford Escort parked in the breakdown lane. The owner of the Escort, Michael Veninshek, 53, of Sheffield Lake, had walked away from the car moments before the crash and was not hurt. Both cars went off the road and down an embankment. A Busy Night at Two Bucks

One patron tries to steal beer, another throws pen at bartender

Some patrons at Two Bucks in the early hours of Dec. 18 may have had a few too many holiday spirits. Avon police were called around 1:01 a.m. after a man reortedly came into the bar, walked into the employee area and helped himself to some beers. When he was told the police were being called, the man put down the beers and left in a car being driven by another male. The man who had been driving the car showed up at the bar about a half-hour later, without the man who tried to steal the beer. The driver was told he was no longer welcome at the bar and a sober driver took him home. Police reportedly were flagged down around 1:37 p.m. for a fight in the back parking lot involving about a half-dozen people. The fight broke up when police …
